Â
Empowering Women to Take Control of Their Financial Future
Â
Start your journey to financial freedom with our free, six-lesson course. Designed to help women tackle financial anxiety and redefine their relationship with money, this initiative marks the beginning of a powerful movement.
Â
ENROLL NOWAs we celebrate the 50th anniversary...
of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), a landmark legislation that finally granted women the right to access credit independently, we are reminded of how far we've come—and how far we still have to go.
To honor this significant milestone and foster healthier relationships between women and money, we are thrilled to introduce Wealth of a Woman, a grassroots storytelling initiative designed to empower and inspire women everywhere through hand-crafted resources for women to explore their relationships with money.Â
Wealth of a Woman was co-founded by the two of us—Teresa J.W. Bailey and Lauren Reed Williams—with a shared mission: to empower women through education and meaningful conversations about money.
Our movement began on Oct. 28, 2024, marking the 50th anniversary of the ECOA, a time when women were finally able to obtain credit in their own names, free from being considered their husband’s property.
Side note: can you believe that was only 50 years ago?!
Our inaugural education initiative is a free, six-lesson online course designed to help women explore and redefine their relationships with money.
We have an ambitious goal: to reach 50,000 downloads in our first year.

A financial revolution awaits...
The rapid evolution of women’s financial power is nothing short of revolutionary.
Consider this compelling insight:
“By 2030, American women are expected to control much of the $30 trillion in financial assets that baby boomers will possess—a potential wealth transfer of such magnitude that it approaches the annual GDP of the United States.” – McKinsey Consulting Â
This unprecedented transfer of wealth marks a seismic shift in financial dynamics, occurring just over 50 years after the ECOA.Â
It is important to recognize that our grandmothers and great-grandmothers lived under the shadow of coverture’s legacy, often denied access to credit and financial independence.Â
We believe this systemic inequality has rippled through generations, shaping:
-
Women’s relationships with money
-
Financial insecurities
- Unconscious biases about wealth management
No matter their social or economic status, many women today continue to grapple with a deep-seated, unconscious negative relationship with money -- potentially influenced by centuries of financial disempowerment.
The money is coming, and we feel a sense of urgency to eliminate financial anxiety in women.

THE WOMEN BEHIND THE CURTAIN
Wealth of a Woman was founded by Teresa J.W. Bailey, President of Waddell & Associates Nashville and Senior Wealth Strategist, and Lauren Reed Williams, entrepreneur and owner of REED, a national PR and marketing agency.
The two met years ago on the day Teresa moved to Nashville, establishing both a fast friendship and a mutually professional relationship, with Lauren taking on Waddell’s PR needs and Teresa providing financial counsel to Lauren and the REED team.
During this time, the two experienced many modern-day women’s life events, such as growing families, divorce, and career shifts. Â
While preparing their daughters to be the next generation of inspired female entrepreneurs and way-makers, Lauren and Teresa felt the gravity of generational financial traumas and recognized the impact this has on too many women.Â
This experience was the catalyst to Wealth of a Woman, a space for women to grow, learn, and create a community around healthy relationships with finances.
Together, Teresa and Lauren are on a mission to break the cycle of financial trauma and empower women everywhere to take charge of their financial futures with confidence and community.
